Great fishing continued for the participants of the Tuna $takes Invitational. They experienced great tuna chunking and even good trolling. Most of the boats had at least a half dozen fish on the “chunk” with the majority of the fish in the sixty to eighty pound class. Change Order brought in a beautiful Allison Tuna to lead the division with its 110 pound slammer Yellowfin. The Big “I” came into the wiegh station with full fish boxes of Yellowfin and a nice mahi that just fell short of first by several pounds… On the northern Front the BIG KID captained by Ken Gallop brought a nice 78.5lb yellowfin. The Big Boy showed up to the scales with a 66.1 lb yellowfin…

Pipe Dreamer leads with 81.5 lb yellowfin after second official day of weigh ins

Pipedreamer comes in with a beautiful 81.5lb yellowfin to lead the Tuna Division and yellowfin division after the second official day of weighins. Many large dolphin were caught and several boats fishing on the second day “chunked” up to a dozen yellowfin between 60-70lbs.

Bluefin Regulation Update

DUE TO THE NATURE OF STATE & FEDERAL REGULATIONS… GIANTS (73″ OR GREATER) WILL NOT QUALIFY IN THE BLUEFIN CATEGORY, HEAVIEST TUNA CATEGORY OR ANY OTHER CATEGORY FOR THIS TOURNAMENT. BLUEFINS LESS THAN 73″ WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS EVENT.

Note: Federal and State regulations may change. Updated information will be announced at Captain’s meeting.

Tuna $takes Invitational Meet and Greet held at Hoffman’s Marina the official “northern weigh station”

It was exciting to greet all who showed at the new Hoffman’s marina in Brielle, New Jersey. The scene was set for a great event under the tent to keep us dry in what seems to be monsoon season. It is a pleasure to have teamed up with John Grady, the owner of Hoffman’s, who is breathing new life and spirit into the piers which have played so much in the creating the history of New Jersey Sport fishing for over eighty years. There is no doubt that the “Norther Weigh Station” will expand this event and Hoffman’s legend will grow and keep producing sport fishing memories and history.

The event was a great success having the sponsors available for our guests, and wonderful food catered by Chef Leonard Strobel, who also is the founder/ tournament director. He greeted his guest with a roast pig, shrimp and scallops, and cold beer. All who were there raved about the delicious food.

The highlights of the event were definitely the support given to Deborah Hospital through the purchase of the ticket books for the car drawing to be held in early December.

The spectacular entertainment provided by Michelle and Anthony playing guitar and singing made the night entertaining and memorable. All would agree they could sing anywhere and anytime we had an event…. Even in the wee hours Michelle rocked some AC/DC to stir the crowd at the Sandbar a couple doors down from Hoffman’s.

Let us not forget another free drawing winner! The winner is John Stavola!!!!!! glad to have you on board for the tounament GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

The preliminary events only show how exciting this Tournament is going to be… Make sure you get involved, and don’t miss some of the great food, times, and Offshore BIG GAME FISHING The Tuna $takes Invitational has to offer.
